Matthew Shapiro	Matthew is a 31-year Boise resident with a diverse background. He is a former teacher (K-8) and worked on a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction at Boise State. Heâ€™s also had a career in renewable energy (going back to the 1990s) and is currently involved in the development of utility-scale energy storage. On a third track, he has a long history of community involvement, with a special passion for building capacity for dialogue and participatory democracy, for which he developed and led a number of local initiatives since the 1990s, most recently through projects under the umbrella of The Boise Commons and Boisevolve. In 2025, he is launching a new nonprofit initiative called The Boise Public. Matthew is also a writer (he published his first book in 2024), and he is the proud father of a teenager attending Boise High School.
