Course Description

This 4-session class will provide firsthand instruction on growing dahlias from seed, from cuttings, and from tubers. Dahlias are unique among flowers due to their endless diversity of color, size, and form. Grow a dahlia from seed to learn the science of crossing a seed parent with a pollen parent to create your own unique dahlia! Learn how to take cuttings to maximize your dahlia inventory. Develop in-person connections with other growers, breeders, and cut-flower enthusiasts. Participants will gain a snapshot of the current dahlia growing culture. Explore where to buy, share, and sell your dahlias. At the conclusion of the class a cutting of the newly hybridized dahlia, Kaylee Jade, will be given to each student. The dahlia Kaylee Jade was hybridized by Rosie Cooper-Vert in honor of Kaylee Jade Goncalves.
