It does not take long for a parent to discover that caring for a foster or adopted child in their home is no easy task. Traditional parenting, which focuses on eliminating misbehavior without particularly understanding the need driving the child's actions, does not provide the opportunity to create healing for the hurt child. Unmet needs from the child's early years continue to drive maladaptive behaviors and result in difficulty at home and in school and in relationships.
Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) is a therapeutic model that trains caregivers to provide effective support and treatment for at-risk children. (Purvis, et al, 2013). During this course, the instructor will introduce you to main components of TBRI® and brainstorm creative parenting to discover the need behind the behavior.
Class includes learning through discussion, videos and activities.
