Course Description

This course teaches first aid techniques to address the most common veterinary emergencies. Whether you are a pet owner or a caretaker for other people’s pets, you will learn the necessary skills that could help save a dog’s life. Often, immediate medical care makes all the difference.

Led by veterinary emergency professionals, the class will help you understand concerning behaviors to watch for that could indicate an injury or illness. Topics addressed include taking vital signs, heat stroke, CPR, controlling bleeding following an injury, and stabilizing your pet in order to transport to a veterinary hospital, and what items to put in your home first aid kit.

Material fee covers the take-home packet, the WestVet certificate, and the bandaging materials used in class.

Students will enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the new WestVet trauma center.
