Face it. None of us are getting out of here alive! Spend an evening with your local friendly Funeral Director talking all things death care. The reason funeral homes and making funeral arrangements are so uncomfortable and scary is because the funeral industry likes to speak their own language. Building a bridge and creating a shared language between the funeral industry and the community they serve is the first step to creating meaningful and helpful connections. Students will guide this class with their questions and concerns. Instructor will email helpful guides for funeral planning, obituary writing, creating your own advance directives, and so much more.
Some of the topics that have come up in the past: advance directives, funeral planning, DIY funerals, why do costs vary amongst funeral homes, cremation vs. burial, funerals of the past, funerals of the future, body donation, how to talk to a family member about their wishes, death and dying games, etc. Jon Underwood (creator of the Death Café) stated it best, “Just as talking about sex won’t make you pregnant; talking about death won’t make you dead.” Let us talk about it!
