Rae Ann Norell

Rae Ann Norell was a teacher in the Boise Public Schools for nine years. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Work and has worked over 20 years in the mental health field. She has a part-time private counseling practice specializing, among other things, in grief and loss. Rae Ann facilitates the local chapter of The Compassionate Friends, a support group for bereaved parents, grandparents, and siblings.

She published an award-winning book that details her journey from grief to eventual healing, after her son died unexpectedly at age 24. The book also describes the world-wide kayaking adventures of her son.

She teaches violin and piano and played in the Boise Philharmonic for 40 years. 

In addition, she enjoys spending time with her daughter and her three grandchildren, reading, writing, world travel, and taking motorcycle road trips.
