Lisa Hecht

Lisa Hecht is a Wellness and Career coach.  During her 32- year career at Hewlett Packard, she served as engineer, architect, program manager, and as a coach in the HP Coaching Network, enabling people and teams to achieve their highest potential.

She studied positive psychology and coaching with Mentor Coach LLC, an International Coaching Federation certified training program, as well as the science of success, well-being, and motivation with scientists engaged in leading-edge research.

Lisa is a cancer survivor who raised two teenage daughters alone after their father died. She applies the resilience, connecting, and compassion she learned through adversity to her coaching.

Lisa studied electrical engineering at the Universität Karlsruhe in Germany on a Rotary scholarship. She ultimately graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Music is one of Lisa’s passions; she has performed twice as a vocalist at Carnegie Hall, and for decades with Opera Idaho and the Hewlett-Packard jazz band, Boise Straight Ahead. She finds music to be a great inspirational and coaching tool for her clients. Another lifelong passion is wellness; she has grown her own vegetables from seed organically and learned to store, preserve and prepare the garden bounty. She completed her first half-marathon in October 2013, has bicycled multiple double-century rides and rode through China in 1986. She is a regular meditator. Lisa loves to share ways to weave wellness into the lives of busy people.

After Lisa graduated with a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin she enjoyed a 30-year career at Hewlett Packard as an engineer, architect, and program manager before retiring. While at HP, she produced a video to help HP’s suppliers eliminate CFC use.

She has tracked the science of, and solutions to, Climate Disruption, from global to personal levels, since becoming aware of the issue in 1975. In December 2015, she vowed to support Paris COP21 Agreements by halving her personal carbon footprint and achieved that by 2018.

She participates in Idaho Power’s biannual Intermediate-Range-Planning meetings, and has testified before the PUC and Idaho legislators on the benefits to the grid of renewable energy—solar in particular, where her electrical engineering background comes in handy!

Since the 1980’s, she has grown vegetables organically, saving seed and starting many of her plants from seed.  She shops the local Farmer’s Market, minimizes product waste, eats a plant-based diet.

Lisa is an avid cyclist, supports cycling, and attends ACHD’s Bicycle Advisory Committee meetings when possible.

She is a founding member of Idaho Business for the Outdoors, a member of Citizens’ Climate Lobby, ICL, Snake River Alliance, Sierra Club, and is a state organizer for the Union of Concerned Scientists.  As a former Girl Scout, she wants to leave every place, including the Earth, better and cleaner than she found it.

Lisa is very enthusiastic about using humor, music, and the science of well-being to bring greater happiness and success to her clients, and greater harmony to the world!
